Google Analytics: How to turn on Site Search and E-Commerce reporting in Google Analytics

1. In SearchSpring, enable Google Analytics integration from the Display tab:

  • Enter your GA Tracking ID (e.g. "UA-XXXXXX-1")
  • Enter your domain name with a leading period, just as it should be for the _setDomainName() call (e.g. ".example.com")
  • Save the display settings

2. Enable Ecommerce and Site Search reporting in the GA Website Profile:

Go to Edit Profile Settings

  • Click Edit in the “Main Website Profile Information” section
  • Under the E-Commerce Website section, check "Yes, an E-Commerce Site"
  • Under the Site Search section, check “Do Track Site Search”
  • For Query Parameter enter “q,query”
  • Select “No, do not strip query parameters out of URL”
  • Select No for “Do you use categories for site search?”
  • Save your settings
