Within the Searchspring Management Console (SMC), the personalization settings have been updated with a new user interface and some new features to enable merchants to more easily configure their desired personalizations. The settings have been organized onto specific tabs on a single page instead of being spread out on two long pages. Below you will find a compare-and-contrast of the "before and after" of these settings.
Below is an overview of all personalization settings before the new layout was created.
Some settings were listed on the Advanced Rules tab under Personalization:

System Status tab (formerly Generator Status)
The original Generator Status setting appeared as follows:
Now it resides on the System Status tab, as shown:
Data Science Updates
This section provides details on the data available for personalization.
Note: Updates occur automatically when an index completes.
Contextual Group Stats (formerly Contextual Exclusion Stats)
The original Contextual Exclusion Stats setting appeared as follows:
Now this information resides on the System Status tab, as shown:
Note: The rule counts are not mutually exclusive. If a single product is excluded by multiple rules, it will be reflected in each count.
Excluded Product Stats (formerly Global Exclusion Stats)
The original Global Exclusion Stats setting appeared as follows:

Inactive Product Stats (new)
Inactive Product Stats are a new addition to the personalization settings. Products added to the inactive state do not have recommendations calculated by the generator. These inactive products cannot be used as seed items. This value displays the number of inactive products that are excluded from the generator.
Global Rules tab
This tab displays rules that affect the personalization engine globally.
Contextual Groups: Single Group Rules (formerly Contextual Exclusions)
The original Contextual Exclusions setting appeared as follows:
Now it resides on the Global Rules tab, as shown:
Contextual Groups: Multi Group Rules
The original Contextual Groups setting appeared as follows:
Now it resides in the Global Rules tab, as shown, with a new interface:
Grouped rules are shown in a box, as above. Users are able to link groups together and un-link them; simply drag the groups apart to ungroup them.
Excluded Products (formerly Global Exclusions)
The original Global Exclusions setting appeared as follows:
Now it resides in the Global Rules tab, as shown:
Note: Global Exclusions do not apply to Custom Profiles.
Inactive Products (new)
This section displays inactive products for the account. Inactive items cannot be viewed on the site, so they are not included in recommendations. Here, add items that cannot be viewed on your site or that should never be used as a seed for recommendations. This will allow your updates to complete more quickly.
Blocked Brands
This section was formerly a single column within the Brand Rules section.
Now it appears on the Global Users tab. Users have the option to block specific brands from personalized recommendations.
Similar Rules tab
This tab is used to set rules for recommending "Similar" products for a seed item.
Upsell Filter
The original Upsell Filter setting appeared as follows:
Now this configuration resides on the Similar Rules tab.
Similar Product Rules
Similar Product Rules used to appear on the Advanced Rules form within the old personalization settings.
Now it appears on the Similar Rules tab. Use Similar Product Rules to curate the specific products that should be recommended based on what the shopper is viewing.
Cross-sell Rules tab
You can find all cross-sell rules on the Cross-Sell Rules tab.
Category Rules
Formerly, the Category Rules were found on the Advanced Rules in the old personalization settings.
Use these rules to curate the types of categories that should be recommended based on what the shopper is viewing. Category rules apply to Cross-Sell and Cart-Cross-Sell profiles.
Brand Rules
Formerly, the Brand Rules were found on the Advanced Rules in the old personalization settings.
Use these rules to curate the types of products that should be recommended based on what the shopper is viewing. These Brand rules apply to Cross-Sell and Cart-Cross-Sell profiles, and they also apply to Similar recommendation profiles. Blocked brands are global rules and can be found on the Global Rules tab.
Cross-sell Product Rules
Formerly, the Cross-sell Rules were found on the Advanced Rules in the old personalization settings.
Use these rules to curate the specific products that should be recommended based on what the shopper is viewing. Cross-Sell Product rules apply to Cross-Sell and Cart-Cross-Sell profiles.
Category Settings tab (new)
This new tab displays all categories and all of the products in each of those categories. Here, you will manage your categories for product similarity rankings.
