Tapcart App Overview
Tapcart is a Shopify mobile app builder, helping stores to improve mobile conversions and retain customers. Searchspring has partnered with Tapcart to create a unified shopping experience by leveraging Searchspring's Site Search and PLP Merchandising tools within the Tapcart mobile app.
Getting Started
New Customers, not yet live with Searchspring
Before completing the Searchspring + Tapcart App connection within Shopify, the data connection and integration setup must first be completed on your Searchspring account. This setup happens during the Searchspring Onboarding Process. Skipping ahead to the Tapcart App connection details without first having a completed Searchspring account setup will lead to products failing to load within the Tapcart App.
If you have signed up with Searchspring and have not yet gone through the Searchspring Onboarding Process, you will first need to coordinate with your Project Manager to ensure your Searchspring account setup is completed before proceeding with the Searchspring + Tapcart App connection. This is required in order for Products, Filtering, Indexing Rules, and Merchandising to first exist on your Searchspring account before enabling the Tapcart App integration, thus ensuring all of your Project Requirements are captured and accounted for before proceeding with the Tapcart App connection.
During the Searchspring Onboarding Process, your Project Manager will provide you with the Searchspring + Tapcart integration details at the appropriate time.
Existing Customers, already live with Searchspring
If you are an existing Searchspring Customer and you already have Searchspring integrated within your Shopify Theme on your website, you may proceed to the Tapcart App integration details noted below.
Completing the Tapcart Integration Connection
Refer to the Searchspring + Tapcart Article found within the Tapcart Help Desk.
While enabling the Searchspring Integration within the Tapcart App, you will be presented with the configuration page seen in the article above - use the following video as a guide in filling out those integration details:

Site ID
Your Searchspring Site ID can be found within the Searchspring Management Console, under My Account: https://manage.searchspring.net/management/account
Collection Filter
Here you will be presented with three options: collection_handle, collection_id, and collection_name
To confirm which Collection Filter applies to your project setup, verify this directly on your website where Searchspring is integrated by following the steps in the Integration Guide Video above.
If you find that your project setup is using any other field as the main Collection Filter outside of collection_handle, collection_id, or collection_name, please reach out to your Searchspring contact or Tapcart Account Manager to raise this concern - additional customizations will need to be accounted for in the Tapcart App integration before you proceed with these remaining steps.
Collection Custom Filters (Optional)
Any additional background filters applied in your Collection Pages would be entered here. Follow the steps in the Integration Guide Video above to confirm if this is applicable to your project setup.
After watching that video, if you are not confident in the information gathered or were unable to locate the search.json request, please reach out to your Searchspring contact for confirmation.
Text Search Custom Filters (Optional)
Any additional background filters applied to your Search Results Page would be entered here. Follow the steps in the Integration Guide Video above to confirm if this is applicable to your project setup.
After watching that video, if you are not confident in the information gathered or were unable to locate the search.json request, please reach out to your Searchspring contact for confirmation.
FAQs
Q: Who should I reach out to report any issues once the Searchspring + Tapcart connection is completed?
Once the Searchspring + Tapcart integration is enabled, test a few searches within your Mobile App to ensure you are seeing the expected results returned, while also testing various filter and sort option selections. Navigate to different Collection Pages to ensure results are loading there as well. If you are seeing any issues within your Mobile App, contact your Tapcart Account Manager.
Q: What features come with the Searchspring + Tapcart App integration? What is not included?
The Searchspring + Tapcart integration will enable the Searchspring AutoComplete Suggestions, Search Results, and Collection Results within your Tapcart Mobile App. On both the Search Results and Collection Pages, Searchspring’s Filtering and Sort Options will be included. The Filters and Sort Options displayed in the Tapcart Mobile App will match the configurations found within your Searchspring account under the Searchspring Management Console.
Applied from your Searchspring account, any Relevancy settings, Boost Rules, and Pinned Products from Merchandising Campaigns, Synonyms, and Exclude Rules will carry over to the Searchspring + Tapcart integration the same.
The following Searchspring features are not included in the Searchspring + Tapcart integration:
- Redirects
- Banners added through Merchandising Campaigns
- Segmented Merchandising
- Recommendations
Q: I'm using Searchspring Recommendations on my website. Am I able to enable the Searchspring Recommendations in my Tapcart App the same?
No, Searchspring Recommendations are not included as part of the Searchspring + Tapcart integration.
Q: How does Searchspring's Indexing work between my website and the Tapcart App?
The same Searchspring account is shared between your website and the Searchspring + Tapcart integration. Whenever indexing runs on your Searchspring account, the update will remain in sync across both environments. Triggering a manual index will also apply to both environments the same.
If you are using Searchspring's Shopify Live Indexing feature, these live updates will be applied to your Searchspring + Tapcart integration as well.
Q: Am I able to customize the design of the elements found in the results? For example, I would like to apply changes to the look and feel of the item cards by adding badges, complex pricing rule displays, color swatches, etc.
No, the result listings found in the Searchspring + Tapcart integration apply a standardized template for the item cards which cannot be modified.
Q: Within the Reports found in the Searchspring Management Console, am I able to create different Reports which are environment-specific? For example, I would like to create a Report showing activity from my website vs the activity in the Tapcart Mobile App as separate views.
No, all Reporting within the Searchspring Management Console is shared across both environments. Any activity done on the Tapcart Mobile App will be logged into your existing Reports the same.
Q: Does the Searchspring + Tapcart Integration support Mobile-Exclusive content set by the Tapcart App Sales Channel?
No, if you have any Products and/or Collections which are exclusively published to the Tapcart App Sales Channel, those same Products and Collections will not exist in the Searchspring + Tapcart integration - any Mobile-Exclusive Products will be missing from Searchspring’s results and any Mobile-Exclusive Collection Pages will be loading no results.
To ensure Products and Collections exist within the Searchspring + Tapcart integration, all Products and Collections must always be published to the Online Store Sales Channel in Shopify.
After ensuring Products are published to the Online Store Sales Channel, should you still require a solution to maintain Mobile-Exclusive Products within the Searchspring + Tapcart integration, reach out to your Searchspring contact or Tapcart Account Manager for more information on how you can utilize Product Tags to keep these Mobile-Exclusive Products hidden on your website while still visible within the Tapcart App.
For Mobile-Exclusive Collections, there is no available workaround for maintaining this within the Searchspring + Tapcart integration - your Collections must always be published to the Online Store Sales Channel for the Collection Page to properly display products within the Searchspring + Tapcart integration.
