Personalized Messaging Recommendations are now available to all sites using Yotpo, Klaviyo or Dotdigital as their marketing automation provider. For Yotpo users, Messaging Recommendation intelligence is created in Searchspring and then copied into Yotpo.
To enable message personalization, we pull customer data to connect email addresses and phone numbers to the ecommerce platform shopper IDs. Sites using Shopify, Bigcommerce, or Magento as their ecommerce platform can take advantage of our native data extractors to pull this data into our system. All other sites can provide this mapping through a custom feed. For more information on providing customer data access, click here.
Note: This feature is available only for sites with Personalized Messaging Recommendations enabled. If you do not have this feature enabled, please contact your Customer Success Representative or email success@searchspring.com to find out more.
Setting up Messaging Recommendations
Note: Before you begin, make sure your site is connected to Yotpo. Go here to learn more about connecting Searchspring and Yotpo.
To get started:
- Navigate to Personalization in the SMC.
- Click Messaging Recommendations.
- Click “Add New Profile” in the top right.
Select your marketing automation provider.
Select the type of campaign you'd like to use.
Select the type of recommendation you'd like to use.
Give your profile a name and enter the number of product recommendations you'd like to include in an email blast. You may recommend up to 10 products in an email. All SMS Recommendations will contain only one product recommendation.
If you selected the Cart-Cross-Sell recommendation type, then you will be able to refine your choice by using the Precision tab to configure how precise recommendations are. This value dictates how many conditions the system uses to find recommended products. Broader precision expands the recommendations algorithm to ensure products can be recommended even when shopper data is sparse. Narrower precision restricts recommendations to prevent the algorithm from defaulting to related products or trending items. This could result in recommendations not being displayed for certain products.
Drag the slider to select the precision. "Curated" is the most restrictive setting. Each of the others adds more options to increase the chances of finding products to recommend.
- Curated = Only return products that match your Product Rules
- No Fill = Add cross-sell recommendations that complement the products in the cart using both crowd and genomic data
- Crowd = Add cross-sell and similar recommendations that match the products in the cart using only crowd data
- Genomic = Add cross-sell and similar recommendations for related products using both crowd and genomic data
- All = Add trending products in the case where the genomic option was still not enough to provide enough results
Save the profile; then two additional tabs will appear on the page: one for email and another for SMS. Each contains the content you will add to your Yotpo communication to incorporate Searchspring personalization into your customer emails and text messages.
