Does Searchspring Store my Data?
At Searchspring, we understand the importance of privacy and the trust that our customers place in us. We have implemented a number of measures to establish safe and secure procedures for handling customer data.
We do not export or save entire customer records such as names, addresses, billing information. Searchspring only requests access to Personal Identifiable Information (PII) to power Personalized Messaging Recommendations.
If needed, we will ask you to grant us access to your customer data. If you were to discontinue use of our personalization service, we delete all customer records related to your store.
Data Protection Protocols
Searchspring handles customer data with the utmost care and attention to privacy and security. By implementing measures such as anonymization and encryption, Searchspring protects shopper PII and provides a shopping experience that is personalized and enjoyable.
- AWS and Azure Security: We store customer data in AWS and Azure repositories with restricted access through Amazon's Identity and Access Management service (IAM) and Microsoft's Azure Active Directory service.
- Hashing and Anonymization: To protect the privacy of your shoppers, we use a one-way hash to anonymize their personally identifiable information (PII), such as their email addresses. This means that their PII cannot be reverse-engineered or used to identify them. This method allows Searchspring to securely protect sensitive information without compromising privacy.
- Consent: We cannot access or use customer or shopper sensitive data without your consent. This workflow requires that you log into your e-commerce platform to grant us access to your customer data.
- Data Protection Trends: We take the security of customer data very seriously and have implemented measures such as secure servers and encryption to protect this data from unauthorized access or theft. We also regularly review and update these measures to stay up to date with the latest in data protection technology.
What data are you tracking and why?
Personalization requires the tracking of on-site shopper behavior, in order to gauge intent and enhance the shopping experience for your customers. For Personalized Messaging Recommendations, Searchspring may collect customer email addresses and phone numbers. This is done to link their online behavior to the offline marketing you may send through emails and SMS messages.
The shopper behavior that we track includes search terms, page views, item clicks, shopping cart contents, and purchases, both for guest users via a randomly generated ID, and also for logged-in users via their customer ID. By using the customer ID, we can assess your shopper's behavior over time, and determine their preferred categories and brands to further enhance their experience.
We are committed to maintaining the privacy and security of your customer data and ensuring that any personal information is handled with care.
