To enable site site search tracking on Google Analytics, follow the steps below.
2. Select the "Admin" tab at the bottom left
3. Under the "View" column, select "View Settings"
4. Enable the "Site Search Tracking" option at the bottom of this page. An input box appears asking for your query parameter. To find this, first perform a test search on your website. Look at the URL of that page, and find the parameter used next to your search query.
Note this is not necessarily the first parameter found at the end of the URL - consider the examples below:
- /search?query=dresses | Query Parameter: query
- /search?type=product&q=necklaces | Query Parameter: q
- /search.asp?sortby=0&page=1&catid=&keyword=shorts | Query Parameter: keyword
- /category-s/448.htm?Search=rings&Submit= | Query Parameter: Search
Once you've found your query parameter, enter it in the box and then click Save.
