For most Searchspring sites, we require every search term to be found in a product's searchable data to show in results -- this is to ensure the best relevancy. This practice is called "strict search". In some cases, sites can break this rule when there would be zero search results, and instead fall back in these cases to use a "loose search", in which at least one searched word must be found in a product, but not all.
Expanded Search is when a search falls back to a loose search only when there are zero results for the initial strict search.
