Delight your customers by letting their individual preferences influence which products they see, making it easier to find the products they'll love.
How does it work?
Whenever a shopper visits your site, they give you information about what they’re interested in. Every time a shopper views a product or adds something to their cart, Searchspring’s personalization service learns from those actions in order to better understand what they’re looking for and predict what they might want to buy.
Those predictions can influence search results and category pages in the following ways:
- Category and Brand Preferences: based on the shopper’s product views and previous purchases, the system will determine the shopper’s favourite categories and brands. Products from the shopper’s preferred categories and brands will be boosted within search results and on category pages so that they are easier to find.
- Product Boosts: based on the products that the shopper has viewed and added to their cart in their session, the system will boost products that are similar to what they’ve already viewed as well as products that are complementary to what they have in their cart. It will also demote the products that are already in the shopper’s cart, in order to encourage more discovery.
What impact will it have on relevancy?
It’s critical that personalization’s influence on search results is balanced against textual relevance and your own merchandising priorities. For that reason, personalization has been combined with boost rules in order to elevate products that the individual shopper is interested in while still respecting the merchandising rules set in the SMC. If a product that matches a boost rule also matches one of the shopper’s personalized boosts, that product will be pushed to the top of the products that match that rule.
What if a shopper is brand new to the site?
Personalized Search & Merchandising uses a combination of a shopper's history with your site as well as what they're doing on your site in real time. What that means is that even if a shopper has never visited your site before, they will start to see personalized results once they've started interacting with products on your site and adding items to their cart.
How do I get Personalized Search & Merchandising on my site?
